Located in the foothills of Reno, Nevada, the residence is a masterful renovation and reinterpretation of a mid-century home that honors its architectural roots while embracing a distinctly modern sensibility. The project integrates natural light, rich materiality, and biophilic design principles to create a timeless and restorative living environment. Every element, from the structure to the smallest finish detail, is guided by a balance of craft and calm.

We approached the design with a clear intention: to create a home that feels alive, grounded in nature, and deeply personal. The design brings the outdoors in through expansive glazing, interior planters, and skylights that draw daylight deep into the home. The central living spaces revolve around a lush indoor garden, allowing greenery and natural textures to become architectural features rather than decorative afterthoughts.

The open plan flows seamlessly between kitchen, dining, and living areas. Natural materials, including walnut, slate, and cedar, connect the spaces while offering visual warmth and tactile richness. The palette is warm, earthy, and illuminated by soft, golden light.

The continuous thread of natural light connects these spaces, shifting in tone from dawn to dusk. This rhythm of illumination transforms the home into a living organism — calm in the morning, glowing at golden hour, and softly intimate at night.
